Mandatory Equipment
Two different sets of mandatory equipment standards will be adopted for the upper and lower sections in terms of the altitude level. The event stipulates that Namche Bazaar is a high-altitude equipment change point.
Altitude below Namche’s (3440m)
• Off-road backpack, including 1.5 liter water bottle
• Two headlamps (one main and one backup, each including a set of spare batteries)
• Lightweight outdoor jacket (laminated)
• Lightweight outdoor trousers (laminated)
• A set of thermal underwear (a single piece of long-sleeves weighs more than 140 grams, a single piece of long pants weighs more than 140 grams)
• One down jacket (700 fill, 280g and above) or equivalent P cotton jacket (more recommended)
• Quick-drying gloves, sun hat or sun protection bandana, sunglasses, lifeguard whistle, emergency blanket or emergency blanket sleeping bag (recommended)
• First aid kit (bandages, band-aids, alcohol wipes, personal medicines: antidiarrheal medicine, cold medicine, anti-inflammatory medicine, etc. for at least 5 days)
• High SPF sunscreen
• 500 calories of backup food
• Electrolytes
• A GPS device and a set of spare batteries (the organizing committee will provide replacement No. 5 spare batteries at the supply point)
• Maritime satellite phone (provided by the organizer)
• Satellite locator (provided by the organizer)
• Cellular phone
• Mobile power supply (10000mA and above) and supporting charging cable
• Sufficient amount of cash (Nepal currency or US dollars recommended)
Altitude above Namche’s (3440 meters) (Equipment need to be increased or changed)
• Change: Main backpack capacity requirement changed to 20 liters or above
• Change: Emergency backup food changed to 2,000 calories
• Added: rock helmet for climbing
• Added: Snow Goggles
• Added: Simplified crampons (teeth about 1 cm long)
• Add: medium-weight down jacket (700 fill, 350 grams) or equivalent P cotton jacket
• Add: down pants (700 fill, 250 grams) or equivalent standard P cotton trousers
• Added: Warm Waterproof Gloves
• Added: Warm hat
• Added: -5°C temperature scale goose down sleeping bag
